‘Wow’, ‘Come home’ – Many Leeds fans want 27yo back at Elland Road after ‘unreal’ Europa display

Former Leeds United striker Kemar Roofe scored an absolute worldie for Rangers in the Europa League against Standard Liege on Thursday night, and the goal got the attention of plenty of Whites supporters.

Rangers were winning 1-0 when Roofe picked up the ball midway in his own half in injury time

He danced past three challenges before spotting the Standard keeper Arnaud Bodart off his line.

He then beat him with a wonderful looping shot from inside his own half.

It was a goal worthy of huge celebration but Roofe was booked for his over-exuberance and then confronted by a Standard Liege staffer after the whistle which prompted a bit of a melee between the two sides.

That was definitely a case of the Standard team not being able to face the fact that they’d just lost at home in Europe for the first time in six years.

But Roofe had a point to prove after flopping in Belgium at Anderlecht before his £4.5m move to Rangers this summer.

On this evidence, there are plenty of Leeds fans who would take him back in a heartbeat – most didn’t want him to leave in the first place.

Here are the best reactions to his wonder goal…
