‘World-class’, ‘Announce Champions League’ – Many Leeds fans excited by ‘Amazing’ transfer claim
Leeds United fans are buzzing after reading that the club is ready to table a huge bid for Brentford star Said Benrahma.
According to Algerian news outlet Le Buteur, the Whites are prepared to offer £23.4million for the 23-year-old forward, who has been on fire at Griffin Park this season.
It is understood that Marcelo Bielsa wants Benrahma “at all costs” with him scoring 17 goals and supplying nine assists in 42 Championship appearances this season.
After seeing how well the Algeria international has done in West London, it is no shock that Bielsa wants to sign him and it’s also no shock that a number of top Premier League clubs are also reportedly keen on the attacker.
We would be amazed if Leeds can pull off a move for Benrahma in the summer. It would undoubtedly be a massive coup for the club.
Especially based on the reaction of a number of Leeds fans on Twitter, who are over the moon to see Bielsa eyeing up a move for the Brentford ace.
Here is a selection of their tweets:
As good as it would be to sign a player of Benrahma’s quality, Leeds fans should probably not get too ahead of themselves.
If teams like Chelsea and Arsenal are being linked then we can see them beating Leeds to the winger’s signature quite easily, especially as joining them wouldn’t require him to uproot his life in West London.
It is also bound to depend on whether or not Brentford win promotion to the Premier League.
As it stands, West Brom are in pole position to finish second but the Bees would be favourites to win the play-offs if they finish third.
It could be a hard deal to strike but if Brentford fail to win promotion, it would be worth at least tabling an offer for the Algerian.
In other Leeds United news, Bielsa wants to sign this South American striker from a German club.
