‘What a talent’, ‘Pure filth’ – These Leeds fans blown away by ‘special’ youngster v Derby
Leeds United fans were absolutely delighted with Ian Poveda on his first start for the club.
Poveda, 20, signed from Man City in January but has had to bide his time, as is the way with Bielsa and mid-season signings.
He made the bench for the first two games after he signed but was then dropped from the squad for seven games.
He made his comeback after lockdown, with two cameo appearances before being rewarded with a start as Bielsa rang the changes against Derby.
Poveda was really bright today and always wanted the ball. He likes to run at people but he’s clever with the ball and he didn’t lose possession much.
Poveda cuts a slight figure on the pitch and one fan said that he could do with bulking up in the gym, although another compared him to Messi.
However, we really liked what we saw today in Poveda’s 77 minutes and plenty of Leeds fans did too as the Whites came back from a goal down to register a 3-1 win against Derby.
Today was as much about looking to the future, though.
