Leeds United under-23s showed the first-team how it was done on Monday afternoon, cruising past Burnley 4-1.

Mark Jackson named a strong side at Leyland, as the youngsters kept their spot at the top of the Premier League 2.

Some under-23s that were expected in the FA Cup clash at Crawley weren’t given chances and stayed with the academy side.

Charlie Cresswell was one of those.

The defender captained the side and was excellent all afternoon against the Clarets, dominating a usually potent attacking team.

It baffles us how Olly Casey was chosen to come on against Crawley when Cresswell continues to prove that he is one of our brightest defensive talents.

The 20-year-old has put pen-to-paper on a new long-term contract this season and was even selected on the bench for the Premier League clash against Spurs recently.

Many Leeds fans have reacted to the performance of Cresswell on Monday afternoon, and they were delighted with what they saw.

The majority claimed that the defender was a brick wall, and the youngster was labelled a “beast” and is surely destined to enter the first-team sooner rather than later.

With the Whites out of both cup competitions though, they may have to wait sometime before seeing Cresswell on the pitch for the first-team.
