'This can't happen', 'Get the legal team ready': Many Leeds fans scared by Phil Hay 19/20 update

Dave is a huge Leeds fan and ardent disciple of Bielsa ball. A career in print magazines that included editing PC Zone, launching PokerPlayer and redesigning The Big Issue has finally led Dave to writing about the love of his life, Leeds United. It’s been a tough 2020 but the single scariest moment was the first quarter of the game against Man City. Rodrigo will be the saviour this season.

Phil Hay has reported that all leagues below National North/South have been voided by the FA on Thursday – and Leeds United fans are desperately worried about the precedent this sets.

It means no relegation and no promotion from those leagues, effectively meaning that the 19/20 season never happened.

And the FA is calling for the same right down the football pyramid.

The rest of the non-league is set for a meeting to decide what to do next week.

All leagues below National North/South declared void this season by the FA. Big vote coming up for the National League clubs as they consider their next step. By @mjshrimper:https://t.co/BDZ2D4PPIR

If this was applied to the whole of the football league too – and there's no suggestion that this is being discussed – it would be the disaster scenario for Leeds.

Marcelo Bielsa's men are currently top of the Championship and have a seven-point lead over third-placed Fulham.

With nine games left, Fulham are realistically the only side that can catch Leeds.

Leeds chief Angus Kinnear has said it's "vital" that the remaining 19/20 fixtures are played but the big problem is that no one knows when that can happen.

There are logistics around the impact on next season, on player contracts and on whether games can be played in front of fans or behind closed doors.

Meanwhile, Leeds fans are extremely scared by the move by FA to void the 19/20 season.

Here are the best reactions from Leeds fans...

Okay now I'm bricking it Phil

EFL and Premier league already said that completing this season is their priority. I don't care if it screws up next season, this season has to complete

Not sure the EFL and Premiership can afford the litigation this idea would rain down on them

If we end up with the top leagues cancelled then it's my opinion all clubs in top 6 positions should refuse to be part of the league in the future.
— Andi (@MOT4EVA) March 26, 2020

All league's will be cancelled, it's guaranteed. Especially when government have said lockdown could last upto 6 months

Not surprising that the ones calling for a void season are those who's sides have been shite all season and at risk of going down or getting nowt. Get the legal team ready Andrea. #lufc
