After Charlie Cresswell signed his new contract on Thursday, Leeds United announced another new deal for another exciting young talent on Friday.

Pascal Struijk is the latest youngster to make the leap into the first team and he's had a baptism of fire this season.

Starting the first game of the season against Liverpool, Struijk conceded four alongside new signing Robin Koch.

Since then, he's had to fill in for Kalvin Phillips with the Leeds holding midfielder out injured and he suffered the humiliation of being hooked off after 20 minutes against Aston Villa.

That was a purely footballing decision from Bielsa, with Struijk on a yellow card and looking vulnerable, but it's never easy for any footballer to take, let alone one so inexperienced.

We felt for him then and we – like lots of other Leeds fans – are absolutely delighted to see him rewarded a new three-and-a-half-year deal that really shows what Bielsa thinks of him.

That will see him stay at Elland Road until 2024 and it provides a long-term map for his future in the Leeds first team.

That's at centre-back, although having a body who can move into the holding midfield role when needed is another string to his bow.

Here are the best of the reactions to Struijk's new deal...
