‘Pray for Vardy’ – Many Leeds fans thrilled by ‘Super’ update before clash v Leicester

Leeds United fans are delighted by the news that Liam Cooper is available to play against Leicester City at Elland Road on Monday night.

Cooper, 29, has missed Leeds’ last two matches against Wolves and Aston Villa due to an injury he sustained while on international duty with Scotland.

However, speaking in his pre-match press conference on Friday, Bielsa told the media that Leeds’ club captain is “fine” to play versus Leicester [LeedsLive].

The Whites lost 1-0 to Wolves in their first match without Cooper but then went on to win 3-0 away at Aston Villa last week.

Cooper also missed the opening match of the Premier League season as the Yorkshire giants conceded four goals in a 4-3 defeat at Anfield against Liverpool.

While they kept a clean sheet without him last week, it’s massive that Cooper is available again, especially as Diego Llorente is still injured.

Cooper’s now likely to partner Robin Koch at centre-back, which allows Luke Ayling to return to right-back, Stuart Dallas to left-back and Ezgjan Alioski to the bench.

It will be a shame to see Alioski potentially drop back to the bench but these Leeds fans are more than excited by Cooper’s return to availability.

Out of the centre-backs who’ve made three or more appearances this season in the Premier League, Cooper ranks seventh for the number of tackles per appearance [2.0] he’s made [WhoScored].

He’s also joint-fourth for interceptions per game [2.0] and no player has blocked more shots than him [2.0] with the same criteria.

Cooper’s been a colossus for Leeds in his three league appearances this season and he will be very much needed against one of the most dynamic attacks in the country on Monday night.

In other Leeds United news, Michael Owen has made a bold prediction for the game.
