Phil Hay: Raphinha bound to attract serious interest
Phil Hay claims interest in Raphinha will become more serious if the Leeds United winger keeps playing the way he has been in the Premier League.
Liverpool have already been linked [Fichajes] with signing the 24-year-old Brazilian, who has scored five goals and supplied five assists in his first 20 league appearances for Leeds.
His fifth goal came on Tuesday night as the Whites beat Southampton 3-0 at Elland Road to move into the top half of the Premier League.
After the match a Leeds fan wrote on The Athletic website that if Raphinha’s still a Leeds player next season, it will be a huge show of Andrea Radrizzani’s intentions with the Yorkshire club.
Hay replied by saying: “I agree with Raphinha. Much more of this and outside interest in him is bound to become serious.”
Raph interest inevitable
As mentioned, we’ve already seen Liverpool linked with signing Raphinha so it’s only a matter of time before big-hitters in European football like Juventus, Bayern Munich or Real Madrid are also linked.
Raphinha, from what we’ve seen, is genuinely that good.
Whenever he gets the ball, he seems like he’s going to produce something out of the ordinary or get you out of your seat.
We cannot wait to see him in the flesh once fans are allowed back into stadiums later this year but hopefully, by the time next season comes around, he’s still a Leeds player.
Leeds aren’t under any financial stress after finding fresh investment from the 49ers and the winger’s contract at Elland Road doesn’t expire until 2024.
We can only see Raphinha leaving if there’s a truly irresistible bid or the player himself starts to talk about leaving.
He quit Champions League football with Rennes to play for Leeds so it doesn’t seem like that bothers him too much but if one of the bigger clubs come knocking, it will surely test his and Leeds’ resolve.
In other Leeds United news, Bielsa dropped a major hint about this Leeds player’s future at Elland Road.
