Leeds United fans have been left drooling over the possibility of Udinese midfielder Rodrigo De Paul heading to Elland Road in January after a new report about the Argentina international emerged in Spain.

Spanish news outlet Don Balon reports that Leeds are already planning to make an offer worth around £35million for the 26-year-old, who was strongly linked with the Whites in the summer.

De Paul’s social media activity suggested he was keen on joining the Premier League club and this latest update reports that he is still interested in a fresh challenge away from Udinese.

Unsurprisingly, Leeds United supporters are excited by the news that Marcelo Bielsa is setting his sights on his fellow Argentine again – especially with the club’s form starting to drop in the Premier League.

Leeds started well in their return to the top-flight but the 4-1 defeat to Crystal Palace on Saturday may have forced the Yorkshire giants into stepping up their plans for the January window and also making more money available for Bielsa and Victor Orta to spend.

However, Bielsa has never really been too keen on signing outfield players for the first-team squad with Jean-Kevin Augustin being the only one to be an exception to that (and we all know how it went down with the French striker).

Leeds fans are thrilled by this update on De Paul and while there’s nothing wrong with that, we will err on the side of caution and suggest that anything like this is very unlikely.

Here is a selection of their tweets:

In other Leeds United news, it has been confirmed the Whites wanted to sign this striker in the summer.
