‘Amazing potential’ – Many Leeds fans delighted as ‘excellent talent’ signs new contract
Leeds United continued their announcement streak on Tuesday, confirming that Mateusz Bogusz has signed a new contract at the club.
The Polish playmaker has put pen-to-paper on a new three-year deal which will keep him at Elland Road until 2023.
Bogusz’ deal followed the signings of Jack Harrison, Joe Gelhardt and Charlie Allen in the past 24 hours as Leeds start their recruitment for the summer.
The Whites’ academy talent made his debut in the EFL Cup defeat against Stoke at the beginning of last season but had to wait until the final day thrashing of Charlton to get a taste of Championship action.
Bogusz featured for 17 minutes in the 4-0 win but failed to catch the eye on a night where the damage was already done.
The 18-year-old had already confirmed previously that he would be signing a new deal and then heading out on loan next season.
Talking to TVP Sport, Bogusz admitted he wanted to go out on loan last season, but Marcelo Bielsa blocked it – something he expects to change in his campaign.
It has been a quality couple of days in terms of recruitment, although it is more positive for the academy rather than the first-team.
The majority of the reactions to Bogusz’ new deal were to do with Ben White and his future after recent bids were reported from Leeds.
Many fans did react to the new three-year contract for the Pole though, and they were delighted that the club are starting to secure their brightest talents.
