Many Leeds fans worried as Phil Hay relays EFL news: ‘You’re scaring me’, ‘Unbearable’, ‘Stop’

Leeds United fans are concerned that The Athletic’s Phil Hay is tempting fate with his latest tweet about the Championship play-offs.

Writing on his personal Twitter account on Friday, the former Yorkshire Evening Post journalist shared a screenshot of the dates that the 2019/20 play-off semi-finals and final will take place. The EFL have earlier confirmed the dates on their official website, adding that the games will be aired live on Sky Sports and the final will take place at an empty Wembley.

Leeds go into the restart as Championship leaders, who have a seven-point gap between themselves and third-placed Fulham.

As Marcelo Bielsa’s men have a favourable set of fixtures to finish off the season, it would take one enormous bottle job for Leeds to drop out of the top-two and wind up in the play-offs.

After seeing Hay’s tweet, that is what some Leeds fans are concerned about.

Hay has a knack for jinxing Leeds and as much as we love reading his updates and hearing his views, sometimes we wish he would keep these kinds of thoughts to himself.

And that is what these Leeds fans seem to be thinking too, with one joking that he’s going to block the journalist for this tweet.

Here is a selection of their tweets:

We don’t want to tempt fate in the same way Hay is but if Leeds do drop into the play-offs, we’d be confident of coming out on top in them.

West Brom and Fulham are the only other top-six teams that concern us – everyone else is beatable.

If Leeds end up finishing outside the top-two, we hope that it’s West Brom and Fulham going up automatically just so we don’t have to play them.

In other Leeds United news, this loan star has confirmed he wants to extend his stay at Elland Road.
