Many Leeds fans rage over midfielder situation: ‘Stealing a wage’, ‘Get him out of the club’

It may be hard to believe it but Leeds United have a former Juventus and Ajax midfielder who has been under contract at Elland Road since 2017.

You’d be forgiven for not having a clue about who Ouasim Bouy is but the Dutch central midfielder was one of Victor Orta’s first signings as Leeds’ director of football.

After being released by Juventus, the 26-year-old was snapped up on a free transfer and handed a long four-year contract by the Whites.

Since then, Bouy has made a grand total of zero appearances for Leeds, both on the pitch and on the bench.

The midfielder spent last season on loan at Eredivisie club PEC Zwolle where he was a regular feature in their first-team, appearing 23 times in all competitions.

He was also involved in the failed Cultural Leonesa experiment as in his first season on the books at Leeds, he was sent on loan to the Spanish club to play just four times.

Bouy is an enigma and according to The Athletic’s Phil Hay, it has been months since he has been at the club’s Thorp Arch training ground despite still being paid.

That has led to a lot of anger from Leeds fans on Twitter who have blamed Orta for signing the former Netherlands Under-19 international.

Others, understandably, want to see the midfielder’s contract torn up.

In other Leeds United news, Phil Hay has detailed whether the Whites can sign a goalkeeper on an emergency loan deal after Kiko Casilla was banned by the FA.
