‘Interesting’ – Some Leeds fans react to BBC journo tweet about reported striker target

It seems as though most Leeds United fans have given up hope of seeing Southampton striker Che Adams head to Elland Road this month.

Football Insider reported in December that Leeds had eyed up Adams, 23, as a possible replacement for Eddie Nketiah if the England Under-21 international was recalled by Arsenal.

Of course, Nketiah has now seen his loan deal at Elland Road terminated and Marcelo Bielsa is a striker short.

Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl has come out to say that Adams, who was signed for £15million from Birmingham in the summer, will not be allowed to leave St Mary’s this month despite him failing to score a single goal in the Premier League.

And it certainly seems as though he plans to use Adams at some points this season as BBC Radio Leeds journalist Adam Pope reported that the ex-Sheffield United striker was named to start in Southampton’s FA Cup clash with Huddersfield on Saturday.

Adams did not get himself on the scoresheet as the Saints won 2-0 at St Mary’s but that is unlikely to change Hasenhuttl’s stance on the striker.

And now, Leeds fans appear to have mostly given up on seeing the former Birmingham hitman head to Elland Road on loan this month.

In other Leeds United news, this player could run rings around one Arsenal ace on Monday.
