Phil Hay has claimed that Leeds United are plotting a formal offer for Brest left-back Romain Perraud in the summer and fans are absolutely delighted.

The 23-year-old is highly thought of in France, featuring high in the Get Football News France’s Top 100 in 2020.

He’s a modern, attacking full-back who is also being tipped to play for France.

One Leeds fan said that “Perraud has been the best left-back in the French League, easily” and predicted there would be a lot of competition for his signature.

Hay agreed but said that Leeds have a lot to offer.

There’s a good thread on Perraud here and plenty of Leeds fans are now genning up on a player that Hay claims Leeds have “genuine interest” in.

Leeds need a natural left-back, even though they want to keep hold of Gjanni Alioski.

Alioski has been a regular starter this season with injuries to the Leeds squad but he would likely be a squad player if Perraud signed.

That could influence his decision as Leeds wait to see if he’s going to sign a new deal or leave on a free in the summer.

Irrespective, the Leeds fans are thrilled with the Perraud news and the further information from Hay that Leeds are going to sign cover for Kalvin Phillips, too.

However, it wouldn’t be a Leeds transfer story without a mention of Rodrigo De Paul and one fan didn’t let us down saying, “Rodrigo de paul and Perraud in the summer would be great business.”

That might be true but it doesn’t mean the Udinese player is ever going to don a Leeds shirt. It won’t stop us dreaming, though.
