‘I’m sick’, ‘Biggest cause of my anxiety’ – These fans react to official Leeds United post

Top of the league with five games to go. That was the message from the official Leeds United Twitter account on Sunday evening, and it garnered a mixed reaction from fans.

Brentford, West Brom and Fulham all won and it means it’s as you were at the top with one game less to play.

That’s good news but it could have been better. Fulham had to score a 95th-minute winner to beat Birmingham on Saturday. A draw there would have all but wiped them out of the race.

Brentford are the big worry at the moment – they’ve won all four of their games since the season resumed to nil. They could potentially win the next five too.

Leeds have a six-point buffer but you can really count that as five as Brentford have a much better goal difference – 40 to 29.

West Brom swatted Hull City away at The Hawthorns on Sunday after a couple of scares.

Leeds have the easiest fixture this week, as they welcome Stoke to Elland Road on Thursday. Fulham have to travel to Nottingham Forest on Tuesday, Brentford host Charlton and West Brom are at home to Derby on Wednesday.

It means that by the time Leeds kick-off at the weird time of 5pm on Thursday, they will either have all the pressure on them to get a result, or they could be looking at extending the gap to third to an almost unassailable nine points.

It’s in Leeds’ hands though – 10 points from the last five games will see us up.

Meanwhile, the Leeds fans have responded to the tweet from their club with a mixture of excitement and anxiety.
