‘Shocking’, ‘Doesn’t look good’: Some Leeds fans react to official EFL update for clash v Fulham
We were hoping for a solid referee for the massive clash between Leeds United and Fulham on Saturday. We’ve got Tony Harrington, as confirmed by the EFL.
That’s not the best news for Leeds. He was in charge of our defeat to Wigan back in February and was the fourth official in the crazy 3-2 win against Millwall game the week before.
That led to Leeds asking for 17 incidents to be reviewed.
Harrington was also the referee in charge of the 3-3 draw v Cardiff that saw Leeds go on a bumpy run.
Leeds fans will remember a penalty that Helder Costa should have been given in that game, with Harrington waving our protests away.
If you don’t remember it, check out the video below and hope this doesn’t happen on Saturday. It’s one of the clearest penalty decisions you’ll ever see.
We did get a soft penalty off Harrington in that same game, that Patrick Bamford stuck away, and he also gave us one in the 2-1 win against Bolton in February 2019, again scored by Bamford.
Jo Bedford, a Leeds fans who tweets about the Leeds officials, posted about Harrington on Tuesday lunchtime.
She went on to say, “Doesn’t look good on paper. But despite our loss to Wigan in his last game, I did think he had a good game.”
Fans know how important this game is and while some aren’t happy to see Harrington’s name down for the game, others think he’s not such a bad choice. There are definitely worse…
