Leeds United fans are delighted to see that the club is not interested in signing Middlesbrough contract rebel Daniel Ayala.
Daily Mail journalist Craig Hope had reported that Leeds were keen on the 29-year-old with his Boro contract due to expire at the end of June.
Ayala is refusing to sign an extension to keep him on the books at the Riverside until the season ends, meaning that he will not play any further part in Middlesbrough’s season.
Leeds will need to add to their defence ahead of next season and Ayala’s availability means that he’s someone who fits the bill for the Yorkshire giants.
But we are glad that he’s not a proper target for Orta because, to simply put it, the former Liverpool centre-back isn’t near good enough for Marcelo Bielsa’s side.
Leeds will have the near-impossible task of replacing Ben White in the summer when his loan deal at Elland Road expires.
Orta and Bielsa are not going to wave goodbye to the top-performing centre-back in the Championship and replace him with an ageing defender who’s been having injury issues at a club struggling near the relegation zone.
Ayala simply isn’t good enough for Leeds and we’re delighted he is not actually a target.
These United fans are also thrilled with the update from LeedsLive and here is a selection of their tweets:

Thank god for that. Jansson to White back to Ayala is not progress. Trust Victor has a plan to replace White, can see Man City buying him and loaning back to Leeds next season..

Good. I can’t see where his style of defending fits in with our system.

Good. Not good enough for us and why would we want a player that refuses to play when being paid and under contract?
