Leeds United depend on Patrick Bamford to earn Premier League promotion

Leeds United are heading into the Championship playoffs in awful form, but Daniel Farke will know that anything can happen.

The Whites are ready to take on Norwich across two legs as they look to reach Wembley, where they would take on Southampton or West Brom.

Leeds fans will know that they have an awful playoff record though, and they could be relying on one man to recover from injury to help their cause.

Patrick Bamford is key as injury news emerges

The England international missed the defeats against Queens Park Rangers and Southampton which cost Leeds automatic promotion with a knee injury.

After picking up a heavy bruise on his knee, Bamford was given injections to try and recover, but it wasn’t enough in the end.

With six days to go until the trip to Carrow Road on Sunday 12 May, everyone will be hoping that he can recover to lead the line once again.

Joel Piroe did score against the Saints, but he has more than proven that he would be better in a two-striker formation where he can drop into spaces, rather than hold up the ball.

Bamford can do exactly that, as well as making runs in behind to stretch opposition defenders when needed in games, scoring the winner last time out against Norwich.

Farke will no doubt pick Bamford if he is fit again, and his goals could be the ones that fire Leeds back to the promised land of the Premier League.

This is one of the most competitive playoffs the Championship has seen in years, and the Whites will need to be back at their very best to win it all.

In other Leeds United news, a new stumbling block has emerged in the Whites’ transfer push for Joe Rodon.
