‘Won’t be his choice’ – Pundit claims Leeds 27y/o will be bombed out of Elland Rd this summer

We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United

Paul Robinson has said that Helder Costa will be bombed out of Leeds this summer and that the club is looking for a better level of player.

Costa – who signed on a permanent deal for £16m last summer – only started 13 Premier League games and missed the last five games of the season through injury.

Robinson added that Costa struggled to get in the side and struggled on the pitch when he was in it.

Talking exclusively to MOT Leeds News Robinson said, “You look at the squad – it’s the nucleus of a very good squad but they’re going to have to strengthen the squad again in the summer.

“With success comes expectation. Leeds finished ninth this season and that means people will be expecting them to push on again. Can they finish in a European place next season? Will they finish in the top 10 again? That’s what they have to aspire to.

“Next season I’d quite happily take another ninth-placed finish and a similar campaign but they are going to have to strengthen.

“I don’t think Helder Costa will be there next season. I hope Tyler Roberts stays.

“Costa has been in and out too much and I think he’s one that if Leeds could recoup anywhere near what they spent on him, they’d move him on and find someone better.

“Leeds have outgrown Helder Costa, they’re now looking at a better level of player.

“He’s struggled to get in the side this season and when he’s got in the side he’s struggled on the pitch.

“I think Costa will go and it won’t be his choice, it will be the club’s.”
