We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United…

Paul Robinson has said that it’s time for the EFL and the Premier League to make decisions that clubs will have to adhere to.

Robinson was talking after Norwich sporting director Stuart Webber went on Sky Sports to say that they would look to block promotion for Leeds United if the Premier League fulfilled its fixtures and the Championship didn’t.

Robinson says he can understand Webber’s position but added that it’s no surprise it’s the relegation-threatened clubs who are currently making all the noise.

Talking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, Robinson said, “I completely understand what Webber is saying. I watched the interview and taking off my Leeds hat, it makes a lot of sense.

“Why should one league finish and the other not finish, and teams get rewarded for that? At the same time, it’s not him who makes the decisions.

“Unfortunately, we’re still without decisions and that needs to happen. But, when it does, the clubs are going to have to fall in line. It’s not going to keep everyone happy.

“You notice it’s the six clubs in the relegation-threatened part of the league who are making all the noise, saying they don’t want to play here, they don’t want to play there.

“The top clubs have titles to win, they want the season to start.

“Whatever decision is made, though, there will be unrest. You see what Webber said about the FA Cup… Should that be decided on a computer?

“Sooner or later the governing bodies are going to have to make a decision.”

Norwich don’t have much of a leg to stand on, having only won five games all season.

They’re six points adrift of safety although they would point to greater escapes from the bottom of the Premier League.

If they play their games and are still in the bottom three, though, they will deserve to go down.
