Tyler Adams a ‘good fit’ for Chelsea, set to be unleashed by Mauricio Pochettino after Leeds United exit
We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United …
Tyler Adams will make a “good fit” at Chelsea as he nears a move away from Leeds United, while it’s “no surprise” to see him move to such a club, according to Paul Robinson.
Adams, as reported by Fabrizio Romano (10 August), is set to complete a move to Chelsea after the Blues activated his £20million relegation release clause.
While the USMNT star is still nursing the hamstring injury that has kept him off the pitch since March, he has been backed to be influential at Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

Robinson claims that, while Leeds fans will be sad to see him depart, his obvious quality will allow him to fit into Pochettino’s system and unleash aspects of his game that weren’t present at Elland Road under his new manager.
Speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, Robinson said: “If you asked me before, when you come down to the Championship you expect to lose players, you expect to lose your quality players. He would be at the top of the list of the ones that I would have expected to lose in all honesty.
“I think he shows that he’s Premier League quality and in a team that struggled, he always seemed to play well.
“The biggest thing is when he was missing at the end of last season, he left a huge void. You could clearly see that his quality and his talent and the team were missing. Adams always was Premier League quality and I think his attitude and his application were excellent.

“With the Chelsea move, you can’t say whether the player’s a right fit or not until you see them play in the system.
“I think with the system Pochettino will play, he’ll be a good fit for that because he’ll have a license to go forward as well. He’ll play more of an attacking system and he’ll be allowed to go on the front foot a lot more often.
“His defensive qualities are there for all to see too, so it’s no surprise to me that he’s going on to a club like Chelsea.
“There’s no European football for Chelsea this year, but I don’t think it will be long, obviously, before they get back into Europe or before he himself is playing European football.
“He’s good enough from what I’ve seen, he’s more than good enough. It was a real coup for Leeds when they signed him. I thought he was an excellent piece of recruitment, one of the few that Jesse March and Victor Orta did between them.

“But I really rate him. I think he’s an excellent player. It’s sad to see him leave and I would have loved to see him stay along with the others. But you’ve got to be realistic now that Leeds are in the Championship.
“I wish him all the best and wish him well in the future and I think that Chelsea will be a good move, most importantly because Pochettino is there. His man management skills and the way that he manages the players and sets the system up. He’ll be a good fit there.”
In other Leeds United news, Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Leeds are set to lose one of their star attackers to the Premier League.
