Leeds United and Tottenham could agree swap deal for Joe Rodon to complete Elland Road return
Leeds United may have a chance of landing Joe Rodon from Tottenham should they offer the Premier League club a player in return, according to David Norris.
Rodon impressed on loan at Elland Road last season but his reported £10million valuation [Alasdair Gold] means Leeds are realistically unable to sign him for a fee.
However, with Spurs potentially unwilling to sell the Wales international to one of their top-flight rivals, it opens the door for a return to Yorkshire.
“The season he’s had, he’s good enough to play in the Premier League next year,” Norris told MOT Leeds News. “There may be a case of Spurs not wanting him to leave to a rival and would rather loan him to Leeds again, or maybe they can do a swap deal.
“But I’d otherwise be surprised if he was still at Leeds unless there’s a complex deal in place. For £10m, I can see some bigger clubs in the Premier League taking a punt on him on the basis of what he did this past season.
“He’s had a very good season and I can see him playing in the Premier League next year. A centre-half is a sought-after position – look at Man United and Jarrad Branthwaite – and they are few and far between.”
Leeds United should prioritise Joe Rodon signing
Rodon really was a rock in the heart of Leeds’ defence last season, but a failure to get promoted looked to have killed off any hope of signing him.
Indeed, with a £10m price tag, it is safe to say the Whites are not in a financial position to justify a move, even should money be brought in through player sales.
However, the possibility of a swap deal is an interesting one – especially when you consider the number of swap deals – unofficially, at least – taking place in the Premier League right now.
If Rodon is valued at £10m – and that is a fair price – then Leeds and Spurs would have to find a player in the Whites’ ranks of similar value.

There is also the possibility of in-demand Crysencio Summerville potentially joining Tottenham and the rest being made up of cash.
Either way, it does at least leave open the possibility of Rodon returning to Elland Road. If they have not already, this is an avenue Leeds should look to explore.
