Tottenham stance on Archie Gray January loan shared as Leeds United return mooted

Paul Robinson does not believe Tottenham will loan Archie Gray back to Leeds United during the January transfer window.

The 18-year-old has only made five substitute appearances in the Premier League since leaving Elland Road for £30million, with news emerging that Spurs are anticipating loan offers in January [GiveMeSport].

It has already been suggested that Ange Postecoglou’s side would only be looking to do business with a fellow Premier League club, ruling Leeds out of the equation ahead of the next transfer window.

Speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, Robinson said: “I think it’s just complete nonsense. The young lad has only just signed for Tottenham. He’s gone on a big-money move and will take a while to settle in. He hasn’t started that many games but he starts in Europe.

“He’s played centre-back, right-back, but not really his preferred role in midfield. Tottenham aren’t going to buy a player and then loan him out five months later. He’s a good quality, young player and it won’t take much for Spurs to rebuff any kind of loan approaches made for him.

“He’s a young player who has gone to a huge football club and it will take him a while to settle in. To go straight into the first team was always going to be a big ask. It was probably never a possibility.”

Supporters at Elland Road would absolutely love to see Gray return after just a few months away. The fans were heartbroken to see the talented youngster leave during the summer.

After coming through the academy, much like Kalvin Phillips, the youngster would be welcomed back to West Yorkshire with welcome arms but it does not look like a viable option ahead of the January window.
