‘They’re already agreed the fee’ – Exclusive: Paul Robinson makes Leeds summer transfer claim
We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United
Paul Robinson has said that Jack Harrison has been outstanding and that Leeds have already agreed a bargain fee to sign him on a permanent deal this summer.
Harrison scored one and added two assists in the 4-0 win against Burnley last weekend and is finishing the season on a charge.
That’s even led calls from some quarters for him to be included in the England squad this summer.
Robinson believes that if Gareth Southgate picks players on form then Harrison has every chance.
Talking exclusively to MOT Leeds News Robinson said, “I thought Jack Harrison was outstanding and he’s now getting linked with a place in the England squad.
“If Southgate does what he says he does and picks players based on form, then he’s in with every chance.
“He had an up-and-down spell in the middle of the season, but at the start and the end of the season he’s been absolutely outstanding.
“His performance against Burnley epitomises everything he’s about.
“They’ve already agreed the fee and they’ve got an obligation to purchase him.
“They were clever the way they did it so they’d get an extra year in the Premier League before they had to spend the money.
“But at £11m he’s an absolute bargain. If you look at the price tags they’ve brought players in for recently – Raphinha for £17m and Harrison for £11m – the recruitment is obviously working really well.”
Harrison has now got eight goals and eight assists in the Premier League.
If he can just add consistency to his game and produce throughout the season Leeds will have a top-class player and Southgate will surely find him an irresistible force.
