‘They will struggle’ – Exclusive: Pundit sends out Leeds warning after crippling blow

We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United…

Paul Robinson has said that Leeds United will struggle against the aerial threat posed by Burnley and West Brom.

Leeds play the two struggling sides next and will be looking to pick up maximum points after a heavy 6-2 defeat against Man United.

However, they have big issues in defence with Robin Koch and Diego Llorente out.

Liam Cooper could also be missing too after limping out of the Man United game in what has been called a crippling blow by Robinson.

Talking exclusively to MOT Leeds News Robinson said, “They gave themselves a massive uphill task after going down 2-0 at Old Trafford in the first few minutes.

“That’s going to be tough against any side let alone Man United.

“Leeds were poor and Man United were good, it was just one of those days, it happens, but Leeds defensive frailties were highlighted and United were able to exploit that with their attacking prowess.

“It’s only the second game they’ve won at home all season but Leeds never recovered from that early blow. They were like a boxer on the ropes before the game had even started and set-pieces came back to haunt them again.

“Poor marking… Lack of concentration… Set pieces have been a problem all season. It’s one of those things you can put right. Players will be given a man to mark but if they don’t do that there’s nothing the manager can do.

“It’s becoming a real Achilles heel, it happens every week.

“Sean and Big Sam have well-organised teams and they’ll play a lot more direct than Leeds are used to.

“Leeds will struggle with the aerial threat they both pose.

“It might not be pretty but it’s effective and it will be difficult to defend against, especially with three centre-backs out.

“If Cooper is out it will be a massive blow. Losing three senior centre-backs would cripple any side.”
