'Surprised' – Exclusive: Leeds pundit reacts to speculation about maroon or 'dark red' third kit

We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United…

Paul Robinson has been left surprised by heavy speculation that the Leeds third kit could be maroon.

The kit has been leaked online and it’s left some fans angry.

The home kit has been officially launched and has been a very heavy seller already. Robinson said the home and away kits were “absolutely fantastic”.

Responding to the speculation about the maroon kit to MOT Leeds News, Robinson said, “I’m surprised if that ends up being the case and I don’t know whether it would be a club decision or the manufacturers, I don’t know.

“What I do know is that the home and away kits are absolutely fantastic. A real touch of quality, a nod to the club’s history. They’re shirts that really represent the club. The deal with Adidas is a fantastic achievement.

“I am surprised at speculation that the third kit could be red or dark maroon or however else you dress it up or whatever name you put on it.

“If it’s maroon it’s still dark red and I will be surprised if that ends up being the case. Any other colour for Leeds fans but red.”

So far, the kits that have been leaked online have proved accurate and we’ve been told that the away kit (left, above) is close to the real thing, albeit closer to a green stripe.

The maroon kit will definitely cause a stir among fans and we’re not sure it will sell as well as the charcoal/pink kit that was met with scepticism and some anger from Leeds fans last season.

The charcoal and pink kit was among the best sellers the club have ever had.
