Surprise Glen Kamara transfer update emerges at Leeds United
Paul Robinson would be surprised if Leeds United were to sanction the exit of Glen Kamara this summer after being linked with a move.
According to L’Equipe [30 June], Rennes want to sign the Finland international as a replacement for Enzo Le Fee, who is set to secure a £16.9million move to AS Roma [GetFootball].
It is understood that Kamara is open to the move, having agreed personal terms with the French side, as per Corriere dello Sport. However, Leeds are reluctant to let him leave this summer [Adam Pope].
Speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, Robinson said: “I was very surprised – it was a transfer that I wasn’t aware of. It’s really come out of the blue, having only just come to the club [from Rangers]. The club have been a long-time admirer of him and I thought he did really well last season.
“Now Archie Gray is gone, and the financial situation is maybe not as bad as first thought, I would be surprised if the deal was sanctioned. I suspect Daniel Farke will not want to lose him from the squad.
“We don’t know what’s gone on behind the scenes, whether the player has an issue and has said he wants to leave. If the manager agrees and feels he can do without Kamara, then the money can be used elsewhere.
“But he’s only just arrived so I would be very surprised to see a deal go through.”
Could Leeds United lose Glen Kamara this summer?
It comes as no surprise to see a European club interested in Kamara’s services following his first season in the Championship. His displays went under the radar, mainly due to the talent around him on the pitch.

He was one of the most consistent players on the pitch throughout the title-chasing campaign before his performances dropped off towards the end, with Ilia Gruev often replacing him in the middle of the park.
If the Whites were able to bring in a replacement, it could be a deal that goes through this summer. With the departure of Gray to Tottenham, however, the club must be careful not to have a lack of depth come next season.
In other Leeds news, an update has been provided on the Whites’ pursuit of former Coventry midfielder Callum O’Hare.
