MOT Leeds News conducted an exclusive interview with Leeds Live journalist Beren Cross, getting his views on the biggest talking points from Elland Road…
Beren Cross has picked out three under-23 players at Leeds United for fans to watch out for in the near future.
The Whites journalist has been impressed with Stuart McKinstry, Nohan Kenneh and Niall Huggins as the three that have caught the eye at Thorp Arch.
Cross admitted that McKinstry needs more minutes for Marcelo Bielsa to give him a chance, but he could do something special next season.
Talking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, Cross said, “Stuart McKinstry is certainly a name which crops up a lot when you speak to people at the club.”
“He is still very young and only one year into his time at Thorp Arch. I don’t believe he’s had enough minutes with the under-23s yet to properly make a major impression, but the building blocks seem to be there for something special next season perhaps.
“Nohan Kenneh is another with immense potential as a centre-back/defensive midfielder. Niall Huggins has caught the eye. He’s very versatile and very quick.”
Huggins and McKinstry have certainly caught our eye when present at each and every under-23 game this season.
The Welshman has proved that he can play a number of different positions, including full-back, winger and the heart of midfield.
That could cause people to draw comparisons to Stuart Dallas in the first-team. Bielsa has transformed the Northern Ireland international, and Huggins being anything close to replicating that would be a massive success.
Bielsa has used the likes of Pascal Struijk, Leif Davis and Robbie Gotts this season and it won’t be long until he utilises the under-23s again.
