Sky Sports pundit slams ‘liability’ Junior Firpo as injury expert shares update on Leeds United left-back

We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United...

Paul Robinson has slammed Junior Firpo and doesn’t want the “liability” of a left-back to return to the Leeds United side any time soon.

Firpo, 25, has had an underwhelming debut season at Elland Road after joining from Barcelona in the summer for £13million [Daily Mail].

He’s missed the last three matches with an injury but, according to injury expert Ben Dinnery’s Premier Injuries website, there’s a chance he could rerturn to Jesse Marsch’s squad this weekend.

Leeds play relegation rivals Watford in a huge Premier League showdown at Vicarage Road.

But if Firpo is fit, Robinson doesn’t want him in the side as he’d rather Stuart Dallas stayed at left-back due to Firpo’s poor defenisve work this season.

I don’t think Leeds played particularly badly against Southampton, I think it was a decent performance and a good result,” Robinson told MOT Leeds News exclusively.

I don’t think there are a lot of calls to make changes in there [to the starting line-up].

You’ve got Kalvin Phillips coming back into it as well, you’ve got Forshaw, Klich and Phillips to play in that midfield so Dallas isn’t needed there so you can spare him at left-back.

Junior Firpo’s cost too many goals this year, I think he’s been a liability defensively wise.

Going forward, he offers you more from left-back but with the reliability and dependability of Dallas, they should keep it as it is.

I don’t see a reason to change the midfield.”

Firpo has made 22 appearances in all competitions for Leeds since his move from the Nou Camp in the summer.

He replaced Ezgjan Alioski as the first-choice left-back at Elland Road but due to his continual absenses, Dallas has played there for a lot of the campaign.

In other Leeds United news, this Elland Road ace could be thrown under the bus by Marsch after what happened on Monday.
