Sky Sports pundit shares Jack Harrison claim at Leeds United as Ryan Kent eyed as potential replacement

We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United…

Paul Robinson isn’t sure whether Ryan Kent would be a good enough replacement for Jack Harrison if the winger was to leave Leeds United in the near future.

Harrison, 25, was the subject of bids from Newcastle United in the summer and next year, he’ll enter the final 12 months of his contract at Elland Road.

According to 90min, Newcastle will in the hunt to sign Harrison in January while Leeds continue to try and get the ex-Manchester City winger to sign a new deal.

In the mean time, Rangers winger Ryan Kent has reportedly emerged on the Yorkshire club’s radar again with The Sunday Mirror reporting on 2 October (page 71) that an interest has been registered in the ex-Liverpool player.

It is understood that Kent, 25, has refused to sign a new contract at Ibrox with his current terms due to expire at the end of this season.

Both Harrison and Kent are left-wingers and while Kent could be a like-for-like replacement, Robinson is wary of the fact he’s never played in the Premier League.

“Kent is a very similar kind of player to Harrison,” Robinson told MOT Leeds News.

If Jack was to go, is he as good? You don’t know because Kent hasn’t been tried and tested at that level.

I would personally hate to see Jack leave, I don’t think that will be good business for the club.

Leeds want to show progression this season. They don’t want to just stay in the Premier League, they want to finish higher up and to do that you need to keep players like Harrison.

Leeds have coped with losing Kalvin Phillips because Tyler Adams and Marc Roca have done so well but if Jack went, it’ll be another key player out of the armoury.”

While Kent has never played at the highest level in English football, he’s played 186 times for Rangers, scoring 31 goals and supplying 51 assists, winning one Scottish Premiership title in the process and reaching the Europa League final last season.
