Sky Sports pundit shares £26.6m Wilfried Gnonto transfer prediction at Leeds United as market value soars
We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United…
Wilfried Gnonto’s form at Leeds United means his transfer value has considerably risen since his summer move from FC Zurich, according to Paul Robinson.
Gnonto, 19, joined Leeds in a deal worth £3.8million on 1 September despite Zurich initially demanding £17million for the young Italy international [Daily Mail].
After impressing so much at Elland Road since the end of the World Cup, Robinson now suggests that Gnonto’s transfer value has more than surpassed that £17million.
“It’s very rare that we see [homegrown academy products] come into the first team,” Robinson told MOT Leeds News.
“We’ve seen Gnonto have a huge impact.
“He’s going to be a real gem that they’ve unearthed this season.
“He’s going to be worth seven times what they paid for him at least. He’s one that’s worked.”
If Robinson is right, Gnonto’s transfer value now stands at £26.6million.
The teenage sensation has scored three goals in 11 appearances for Leeds in all competitions this season.
He netted his first Premier League goal against West Ham in a 2-2 draw on 4 January and then bagged a brace against Cardiff last week in an FA Cup third-round replay.
Since the World Cup break ended, the ex-Zurich ace has started all five Premier League matches, finishing 90 minutes in four of them.
