Adam Forshaw isn’t ready to return to action for Leeds United yet due to “another couple of setbacks”, according to Paul Robinson.
Forshaw, 31, has played just five times in the Premier League this season, missing the last three matches with a new hip injury.
Jesse Marsch revealed, as quoted by LeedsLive on 21 January, said that Forshaw has “had a lot of visits to the doctor to try and identify exactly what’s happening” with this latest setback.
Robinson met Forshaw after Leeds’ 0-0 draw with Brentford on 22 January and he doesn’t believe the midfielder is ready to return just yet, adding that he has doubts about whether he’ll remain at Elland Road past the end of this season.
“I saw Forshaw after the game the other day and he’s not quite fit and ready. He’s had another couple of setbacks,” Robinson told MOT Leeds News.
“As far as he goes, it’s imperative that he looks after himself and looks after his own fitness.
“He needs to get himself right between now and the end of the season so he can elongate his career and play as long as he can.
“He’s a fantastic player to have in and around the dressing room – he’s a fantastic person to have at the club.
“Whether that’s going to be at Leeds after this season, who knows?
“It’s imperative he gets himself right and looks after himself.
“If he can be a part of the squad between now and the end of the season, it’s only a huge boost for Jesse Marsch.”
Forshaw’s contract at Leeds expires at the end of the season.
He joined the Whites in January 2018 but has since made just 84 appearances in total due to a raft of injury problems, mainly centred on his hips.
