Sky Sports pundit predicts Leeds United loan exit for Cody Drameh after June transfer development

We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United...

Paul Robinson expects Cody Drameh to leave Leeds United on another loan deal this summer after Rasmus Kristensen was brought in at right-back.

Kristensen, 24, made the switch from Red Bull Salzburg to Leeds earlier this week (8 June) and the Denmark international is nailed on to be Jesse Marsch’s first-choice right-back in the 2022/23 Premier League season.

With Luke Ayling and Stuart Dallas still on the books at Elland Road, despite their injuries, the addition of Kristensen will ultimately push 20-year-old Drameh further down the pecking order.

The former Fulham right-back spent the second half of the 2021/22 season on loan at Cardiff City in the Championship and ex-Leeds goalkeeper Robinson predicts another temporary agreement will be struck for the youngster.

I think Drameh will go out on loan,” Robinson told MOT Leeds News. “He’s still young and he’s still learning his trade.

He’s been given a couple of opportunities but they need to buy players who are at a Premier League level now.

They can’t afford a season to wait for players to be ready or wait for players.

They have to have players who are ready to make an impact on the starting 11.

As unfortunate as it is for the younger players, it’s not a time for the club where they can put players into the team to give them an opportunity and time to come through.

Leeds have to ensure that they’re safe in the Premier League and then bring these youngsters into the side.”

Marcelo Bielsa didn’t seem pleased when Drameh forced a loan move out of Elland Road in January.

As quoted by the Daily Mail on 14 January, Bielsa suggested that Drameh opted to “abandon” the Whites. He said: “Of course with a player leaving it’s one alternative less. But when a player wants to leave, there’s no point trying to keep them.”

Drameh ended up playing 22 times in all competitions for Cardiff and won their player of the season and young player of the season award.

In other Leeds United news, a club has told an agent he’s free to sell his player to Leeds after he was told he can leave.
