Sky Sports pundit: Leeds United issues go beyond Stuart Attwell performance as discipline fails to improve

We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United…

Leeds United are at fault for their own disciplinary issues, according to Paul Robinson, who also suggests Jesse Marsch isn’t helping matters at Elland Road.

Leeds drew 0-0 with Aston Villa on Sunday in a feisty affair at Elland Road.

Luis Sinisterra was sent off for Leeds for two yellow cards as referee Stuart Attwell dished out bookings to three other Whites players as well as two Aston Villa players.

Leeds’ disciplinary issues have been well-documented over the last year as last season they broke the Premier League record for bookings in a single campaign [The Athletic].

Last season also saw Daniel James and Luke Ayling pick up red cards in games where the Whites were fighting to avoid relegation.

Jesse Marsch served a one-match touchline ban for being sent off against Brentford last month and Robinson feels the issues regarding discipline haven’t improved this season despite last term’s unwanted record-breaking issues.

Speaking to MOT Leeds News, he said: “I just think discipline has been the problem.

Jesse Marsch got sent off at Brentford and while there were a couple of decisions that were harsh, you cannot give the referee the opportunity to [give out a card].

It’s not a one-off and it’s not particularly one referee, it happens too often.”

Sinisterra will be banned for the clash with Crystal Palace this weekend despite being in red-hot form.

In other Leeds United news, Adam Forshaw has shared how Marsch tore into one player in front of everyone at traning.
