Sky Sports pundit hits out over Charlie Cresswell treatment at Millwall as Leeds United termination clause emerges
We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United…
Paul Robinson has hit out at Charlie Cresswell’s loan spell at Millwall with the on-loan Leeds United defender all of a sudden being left out of the matchday squad.
Cresswell, 20, had been in good form for the Championship club but was nowhere to be seen in their last two games against Rotherham and Middlesbrough even though he’s fit.
Millwall manager Gary Rowett has told South London Press that Cresswell’s absence is simply down to him wanting to fit other players into his squad.

But Robinson fails to see how that benefits Leeds or Cresswell.
“There’s no point whatsoever in him being on loan if he’s not going to play,” Robinson told MOT Leeds News.
“The idea of sending a player who’s on the fringes of the first team out on loan is for him to get some games. And to the player’s detriment, he’s now not playing.
“If a club is going to take a player on loan like that, the agreement has got to be that they’ll play him.
“If he’s not playing, it doesn’t benefit anybody and he’s better off training with a squad of Leeds’ quality than Millwall’s.
“Cresswell’s definitely good enough to play in the Championship.”

The Athletic journalist Phil Hay reported on 20 September that Leeds do have the option to terminate Cresswell’s loan deal in January.
It is understood that there are also penalty clauses in the agreement that means Millwall may have to pay Leeds when they fail to play the England Under-21 international.
In other Leeds United news, the Whites could place financial sanctions on a London club due to an expected twist in the last couple of weeks.
