Sky Sports pundit baffled by Javi Gracia Willy Gnonto Leeds United call

We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United…

Paul Robinson has been left baffled at Javi Gracia after the Leeds United head coach dropped Willy Gnonto for consecutive Premier League fixtures.

The Italian was recalled to the starting eleven for the Whites’ 4-2 top-flight win over Wolves and registered an assist for Jack Harrison’s opener.

Robinson felt the attacker was Leeds’ standout player at Molineux and questioned why the Spaniard had previously removed him from the starting eleven.

“If he’s fit he has to play and I am not too sure why he wasn’t playing. I am not sure why Gracia was leaving him out,” Robinson exclusively told MOT Leeds News.

“He’s our best-attacking threat, he’s direct and probably the player of the season until the new manager came in.

“He came back in against Wolves and was probably the best player on the park again I don’t understand why he wouldn’t start every game unless he was fit.”

All eyes will be on the 19-year-old’s fitness after he sustained an injury for the Azzurri during their 2-0 European qualifying win over Malta.

TEAMtalk editor James Marshment revealed (27 March) Gnonto has now returned to Elland Road for an “urgent assessment”.

In other Leeds United news, discussions have already begun between a Whites ace’s agents and a club over a summer exit.
