Sky pundit wants Leeds United to sell Raphinha after Fabrizio Romano reveal on Sunday

We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United...

Paul Robinson wants Leeds United to sell Raphinha this summer with Barcelona reportedly in advanced talks to sign the winger.

Writing via his personal Twitter account on Sunday afternoon, Guardian journalist Fabrizio Romano reported that Barca have been in deep discussions with Raphinha’s agent Deco since February.

It is understood that personal terms won’t be a problem for Barca to sign the 25-year-old Brazil international but they are yet to make a bid for him.

Raphinha reportedly has two release clauses in his contract. Romano reports that the current one is £75million but if Leeds are relegated, it will drop to £25million.

Robinson, however, feels as though a fee of nearer £100million would be fair for Raphinha, whose form has dropped since the turn of the year.

“I’d sell him, I’d let him go,” Robinson told MOT Leeds News.

I think the way that he’s performed and his attitude this season has been in and out.

You know what a top-quality player he is and what a brilliant talent he is. But he hasn’t done it on a regular basis this year.

And if they can bring in £100million – or near £100million – for him, that money will go straight back into the squad to rebuild in the summer.

I don’t think that would be a bad bit of business.”

Raphinha missed Leeds’ 3-2 win at Wolves before the international break due to COVID but has scored just one goal and supplied just one assist in his last nine Premier League appearances.
