Sky pundit hits back at Keys and Gray after reaction to footage of new Leeds United boss Marsch

We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United...

Paul Robinson has hit back at Richard Keys and Andy Gray for their criticism of Jesse Marsch after his first game in charge of Leeds United at the weekend.

Leeds lost 1-0 away at Leicester on Saturday (5 March) and after the game, footage showed Marsch getting his players to form a huddle on the pitch at the King Power Stadium.

That led to beIN SPORTS duo Keys and Gray ranting about the American. Gray called it “strange” while Keys dubbed the Leeds manager as the new Phil Brown.

But Robinson has rubbished their reaction to the video clip of Marsch, saying that if it’s something that’s worked for the manager then he’ll keep on doing it regardless of what’s being said.

“We don’t see it that often in the Premier League but that’s the new manager’s style,” Robinson told MOT Leeds News.

That’s what he wants to do and if that gets results, I’m sure they’ll be doing it every week.

I don’t think you can criticise a manager for that.

Whether it’s him showing outwardly what he wants to do, whether it was for everyone else’s benefit or the team’s benefit, that’s his man-management and that’s his style.

“Marsch has been employed to do a job because the powers-that-be thought he’s the right man and they like what he does so if he wants to do it every week and they’re winning, let him do it.”

Marsch takes charge of Leeds for the first time at Elland Road on Thursday night (9 March) when the Whites take on Aston Villa.

It’s a massive opportunity for the West Yorkshire club to move clear of the Premier League’s relegation zone, with the bottom-three just two points behind Marsch’s men as it stands.

In other Leeds United news, this senior player is in a precarious position at Elland Road after what happened at the weekend.
