Sean Longstaff ‘to pass medical’ as Leeds United transfer news emerges
Newcastle midfielder and Leeds United target Sean Longstaff has had an exemplary fitness record this season, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.
The injury expert, however, has admitted that his lack of game time this season is not ideal for a club considering signing him.
He has played only 787 minutes in the Premier League this term, even though he has featured in 25 games.

Longstaff to have no issues clearing his medical
If the 27-year-old is to leave St James’ Park this summer, he will need to undergo a medical.
Leeds are understood to be keen on securing his services, after they clinched promotion and will play in the Premier League next term.
According to TEAMtalk (13 May), the Magpies are demanding £12million for the midfielder amid interest from the Elland Road outfit.
Competition | Appearances | Goals | Assists | Minutes Played |
---|---|---|---|---|
Total 2024/25 | 32 | 1 | 4 | 1,203′ |
Premier League | 25 | 0 | 2 | 787′ |
EFL Cup | 5 | 0 | 2 | 236′ |
FA Cup | 2 | 1 | 0 | 180′ |
Speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, Dr Brar, a specialist in Physical Therapy and a Sports Scientist, said about Longstaff: “Wouldn’t expect any injury-related issue here as he’s been fit all season, so he should clear his medical.
“While his lack of game time is not ideal, it is a positive that he has not had fitness issues.
“At 27, moving to another Premier League club would mean that he does not take long to adapt.“

Leeds United must sign Longstaff for his Premier League experience
Longstaff would be a shrewd signing for Leeds due to his Premier League experience, work ethic and suitability for Daniel Farke’s high-intensity system.
At 27, Longstaff has over 150 Premier League appearances for Newcastle United, offering proven top-flight quality crucial for a newly promoted side aiming to avoid relegation.
His box-to-box midfield style, characterised by stamina and tactical understanding, aligns with Farke’s dynamic approach, providing both defensive solidity and attacking contributions.
Longstaff’s ability to handle pressure at a big club like Newcastle ensures he can cope with Leeds’ passionate fanbase and expectations.
With a reported transfer fee of around £12million, he represents cost-effective squad depth, especially as Leeds face potential midfield shortages with expiring loans.
His homegrown status and desire for regular football further enhance his appeal as a reliable, adaptable addition.
