Robinson thrilled with Rodrigo decision by Marsch at Leeds United

We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United...

Paul Robinson was delighted to see Jesse Marsch play the Leeds United players in their best possible positions against Norwich on Sunday.

Joe Gelhardt’s stoppage-time goal secured a 2-1 win for the Whites, who moved themselves four points clear of the Premier League’s relegation zone with the victory.

Rodrigo grabbed the first goal, capping an impressive display before he was substituted off in the 60th minute. According to Phil Hay, Rodrigo went off with a tight quad muscle.

Robinson was thrilled with the Spain forward’s performance while he was also happy to see other square pegs but in square holes after regular complaints from fans about Marcelo Bielsa using players out of position.

“In the first half, I think he was playing in a role he enjoys a lot more,” Robinson told MOT Leeds News when speaking about Rodrigo.

With the way Marsch set up, when the teamsheets came in, it looked a lot more organised.

Players were playing in the right positions, Rodrigo was playing in the right position and in the past, I think we’ve had far too many players playing out of position.

Everyone was in their right positions and it looked more of an organised set-up and Rodrigo benefited from that.”

It remains to be seen whether or not Rodrigo’s injury worry will keep him on the sidelines on Friday when Leeds play Wolves at Molineux in their last Premier League game before the international break.

In other Leeds United news, a new injury worry at Elland Road could not have come at a worse time for this player.
