Sky pundit: Leeds United let off the hook over controversial decision v Norwich
We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United...
Paul Robinson suggests Leeds United were lucky when Norwich had a penalty overturned at Elland Road on Sunday.
Joe Gelhardt’s stoppage-time goal won the game for the Whites but things could have been different had a penalty decision in the second half stood.
Stuart Attwell pointed to the spot after Milot Rashica stood on Luke Ayling in the penalty box but after checking the pitchside monitor, the decision was overturned.

VAR was Leeds’ friend on this occasion but if it wasn’t in operation, Leeds would have likely picked up fewer than three points against their relegation rivals.
Richard Keys says it “was a pen” but after grabbing the win, Robinson spoke about how vital a win that can be for the Whites in their bid to stay up.
“Performances like that can be a platform for other results in games going forward,” Robinson told MOT Leeds News.
“Leeds had six straight defeats so confidence was low and morale was obviously low. Winning a game like that, confidence can breed results and that’s huge.
“It was the perfect time of the season because, believe me, if they had gone in after that game having drawn 1-1, it would have been a draw that felt like a loss because of the way it went.
“They got off the hook with the penalty, it was nervy at the end, they were trying to keep Norwich out.
“When you get hit by a late sucker punch like that, they would have gone in there and, regardless of whether it was a point and a decent performance, that would have felt like a loss.

“The fact they won the game, the confidence they can take from that, they have to use it.
“With the way Wolves are playing at the moment, with how they’re doing at Molineux and how good they are defensive, it’s going to be a massive game for Leeds on Friday.
“They have to go on and get a result and a draw would be an excellent result for them on Friday.”
In other Leeds United news, a new injury worry at Elland Road could not have come at a worse time for this player.
