Victor Orta to sign perfect Jesse Marsch player as Leeds United agree personal terms with Weston McKennie – pundit

We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United…

Paul Robinson likes the idea of Leeds United signing Weston McKennie from Juventus with the USA international reportedly agreeing personal terms to head to West Yorkshire.

Fabrizio Romano reported on Wednesday morning (25 January) that McKennie, 24, has accepted a contract offer from the Whites, who are now negotiating a deal with Juventus.

According to Italian newspaper La Repubblica on Wednesday, Leeds want to sign the former Schalke midfielder on a loan with an option-to-buy clause included. Juve, however, want either a straight-up permanent deal or a loan with a mandatory purchase clause.

Either way, Robinson is just happy to see Leeds signing a player like McKennie, who he clearly feels is a good fit for Jesse Marsch at Elland Road.

Speaking to MOT Leeds News, Robinson said: “He’s a Jesse Marsch-type player with a lot of energy. He would certainly improve the team.

Marsch has clearly been allowed to bring in the players he wants to strengthen the side so now they have to stick by him.

In the performances against Cardiff and Brentford, it wouldn’t seem that Marsch hasn’t lost the dressing room because there was the talk of the player’s revolt against the manager.

Those performances wouldn’t suggest that but it’s still worrying that they haven’t won since Bournemouth at home and Liverpool away in the Premier League in November.

I know we’ve had the World Cup in between but those two results kept the manager his job at the time. But the performances and results haven’t been what they should have been since then.”

McKennie has played 21 times in all competitions for Juventus this season, scoring three goals.

He netted twice in the Champions League group stages, finding the back of the net against Paris Saint-Germain and Benfica.
