Leeds United v Wolves: Sky pundit stunned by Jesse Marsch, Bruno Lage bust-up

We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United...

Paul Robinson was surprised to see Bruno Lage react the way he did to Leeds United manager Jesse Marsch at the end of Wolves’ 2-1 defeat at Elland Road on Saturday.

At the end of the game, the two managers angrily came together with Lage blaming Marsch for sparking the incident with something he said [LeedsLive].

Lage said that “there was a point in the first half I heard something I didn’t like” before congratulating the Whites for their opening-day victory after coming from behind.

Robinson was clearly stunned to see such an incident but is especially surprised by Lage’s reaction as the fieriness is something he’d expect from Marsch.

“In the post-match interview, both were asked about it but neither of them gave anything away, they said, ‘that’s it, it’s done with’,” Robinson told MOT Leeds News.

“Something’s happened on the touchline and obviously it boiled over.

It’s unlike Bruno Lage as well but you know Jesse Marsch has got that in him, he’s got the edge to him and that kind of being on the front foot. The spark is easily lit with him.

But obviously, something has upset Lage because he’s not that kind of character normally, he’s usually relaxed and laid back.”

It remains to be seen what the bust-up was truly about but both managers kept their cards close to their chest when asked about the incident in their post-match interviews.

Leeds play Southampton next and will travel to St Mary’s to play the Saints on Saturday (13 August).

In other Leeds United news, it’s been confirmed that this player has agreed to quit Elland Road.
