Sky Sports pundit would love Leeds United to sign Harry Winks as ‘inferior’ new signings slammed

We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United...

Paul Robinson would love for Leeds United to sign Harry Winks from Tottenham this summer to add some Premier League experience to their side.

Leeds have lost their two best players this summer in Kalvin Phillips and Raphinha but none of Victor Orta’s six new signings have experience of playing in England’s top flight.

Robinson is concerned by so many players being brought in from overseas and wants to see Jesse Marsch sign Winks, 26, from Spurs with the 10-times England midfielder reportedly available this summer.

“My biggest issue with Leeds’ transfer business is that they’ve lost their best players and signed players who are inferior to them,” Robinson told MOT Leeds News.

Yes, they’ve got numbers in but have they got quality in? We’re yet to see. J

esse Marsch has been put in charge for a reason and he sees it fit to bring in the players that he has but Premier League experience is vital in keeping you in the league.

I would love to see Harry Winks, someone of that ilk, brought in and with the goalkeeper situation, they need a Ben Foster, if you like.

They need some kind of age and experience in that dressing room would obviously help the side, especially help them in staying up.

But they’ve lost top-quality and haven’t replaced with top-quality.”

The London Evening Standard reported on 5 May that Winks is expected to push for a move away from Tottenham this summer after struggling for game-time under Antonio Conte’s leadership last season.

Marcelo Bielsa reportedly rejected the chance to sign Winks back in January [The Athletic] and the midfielder is now said to be valued at £20million by Spurs chairman Daniel Levy [Liverpool Echo].

In other Leeds United news, Kalvin Phillips has been slammed for “patronising” Leeds fans with a gesture he made after he joined Manchester City.
