Leeds United told to spend £110m on signing three new Premier League players – Sky Sports pundit

We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United...

Paul Robinson has backed Leeds United to pump £110million back into the squad on signing three Premier League players.

Kalvin Phillips and Raphinha are on their way out of Elland Road for what could be a combined total of £100million, according to reports.

Sky Sports reported on 1 July that Manchester City are paying between £45million and £50million for Phillips, 26, while the Daily Mail claimed on 29 June that Chelsea’s offer for Raphinha, 25, stands at £60million.

Both will be record sales for the Whites and Robinson would like to see all of that cash – over £100million – back into the squad on three players who are Premier League quality.

Robinson wants a goalkeeper, a central midfielder and a new striker signed up.

Speaking to MOT Leeds News, he said: “The money they get in from Kalvin Phillips and Raphinha has to be put back into the side and has to be invested wisely in at least two of three tried and trusted Premier League players that are going to keep them in the Premier League next season.

Leeds need a striker as a priority, they need a goalkeeper as a priority and they need a central midfielder as a priority.

If you look at what they’re getting for Kalvin – which I do think is shy, Man City have got a great deal – there’s £50million for him and £60million for Raphinha.

There’s £110million there and that’s got to go back into the team on three quality players.”

Leeds have been linked with numerous players but it doesn’t seem as though the value of those players will add up to anywhere near the nine-digit figure mooted by Robinson.

PSV’s Cody Gakpo, Club Brugge’s Charles De Ketelaere, Tottenham’s Harry Winks, Red Bull Salzburg’s Mohamed Camara and free agent Ben Foster have all been linked with the Yorkshire club.

Only two of them have Premier League experience and one of those is a 39-year-old goalkeeper who’s unattached after his contract expired at relegated Watford.

In other Leeds United news, a loan-to-buy deal has been mooted by Phil Hay for the Whites to seal the signing of an international star.
