Red Bull changes now possible at Leeds United as avenues explored

Dan Plumley has admitted that Red Bull are unlikely to push for any brand changes at Leeds United straight away after their investment was confirmed.

The football finance expert did insist that it could happen eventually though, with things such as stadium naming rights floated as a potential interesting avenue.

In a deal that has been described as “record-breaking” for the EFL, the Whites have seen the financial pressure lifted after failure to earn promotion immediately [LWOS].

“You can never say never in football, we know that,” he exclusively told MOT Leeds News.

“I think it’s unlikely at Leeds United at the minute for a number of reasons.

People will look at Salzburg and Leipzig, for sure, but we have to remember that those clubs were in their infancy stages, there was no brand or reputation attached to Leipzig, Salzburg is different as it is a lesser league in Europe, no disrespect to Austria.

With Leeds, you’ve got that power behind the badge, it’s a very different culture in English football that Red Bull will have to be aware of.

I think there are other ways they can probably leverage that without changing the name of the club as an example, stadium naming rights would be an interesting one as that’s an avenue that has some scope.

There are ways they can do it without renaming the club and I just get the sense that is unlikely.”

Red Bull changes at Leeds United?

There would be uproar in LS11 if anything to do with the name of the club was changed, and all parties know that, so that could not happen.

Stadium naming rights are becoming bigger and more popular in English football though, and they can be very lucrative for those involved.

This is certainly something to watch as Red Bull moves forward with Leeds.
