‘Really big marquee signing’ – Exclusive: Pundit would ‘love’ to see 22y/o striker join Leeds

We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United…

Paul Robinson has said that Leeds United fans want to see a “really big marquee signing” join this summer, a striker who could score 20+ goals this season.

Robinson thinks that man is Celtic’s Odsonne Edouard, a player who he thinks would hit the ground running at Elland Road.

Edouard scored a hat-trick in his first game back for Celtic this season but has been sidelined after playing just two games after a club breach of quarantine guidelines.

Talking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, Robinson said, “Leeds fans would like to see a really big signing, a really big marquee signing, a player that you look at and say, ‘Yes, he’s going to score 20 goals this season’.

“I’d love to see them sign Edouard from Celtic, I think he’d really fit in well with Marcelo Bielsa.

“He leads the line, he’s active, he comes in off the wide, he knows where the goal is, he’s scored copious amounts of goals already this season.

“That would be a real sign of intent, a player of that level coming in.

“Whoever it is, though, they have to be a certain type of player for Bielsa. They’re not going to make a marquee signing for the sake of it.

“They have to play a certain way, to not stop running and to play the Bielsa way. Edouard would fit the bill perfectly.”

Edouard would fit the bill perfectly but while a move had been touted by The Mirror, a journalist from the same paper said that that Leeds were not in the running to sign him.

We think Edouard probably moves next summer after Celtic have tied up their tenth league win in a row.

We’d love Leeds to try and sign him this summer or, failing that, next summer when he would be entering the final year of his contract north of the border.
