‘Real pull’ – Exclusive: Pundit believes Leeds-linked PL ace will end up at Celtic instead

We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United…

Paul Robinson doesn’t think that Shane Duffy would fit into Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds team and claims the Brighton centre-back is likely to end up at Celtic.

Leeds want to sign Ben White from Brighton but that is proving increasingly hard to do.

The Scottish Mail has claimed that Celtic want to sign Duffy on loan but that Brighton would prefer to sell him, with Leeds, West Brom, Burnley and West Ham all lining up permanent bids.

Talking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, Robinson said, “I played with Duffy at Blackburn and there are talks of him going to Celtic on loan.

“I think that would be a real pull for him. I don’t know if he’d fit in with the Bielsa way.

“Ben White is a lot more comfortable with the ball at his feet. Shane is an excellent defender, a real threat on set plays, but he’s not as good with his feet as Ben White and you have to be a certain type of player to play in a Bielsa team.

“I don’t think Leeds should move on from White until they’ve exhausted every avenue.

“He was probably the player of the season for me. He would be a massive addition but it was never going to be easy to land him. There will be teams playing in the Champions League who are looking at him.”

We don’t think Duffy is the answer for Leeds, either.

Robin Koch has reportedly been lined up as an alternative to Ben White and the 24-year-old Germany international would be a much better fit at Elland Road than Duffy.

If Duffy wasn’t good enough to be a regular started for Brighton last season, he’s not going to be good enough for Leeds.
