'Readymade PL player for next 10 years' – Exclusive: Pundit names winger he'd like Leeds to sign

We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United…

Paul Robinson has said that either Todd Cantwell or Dan James would be good signings for Leeds United after their move for Michael Cuisance collapsed.

Cuisance failed his medical after arriving at Leeds on Wednesday and the move is now off.

Leeds still have until Monday to make international or top-flight transfers, and can sign players from the EFL until October 16.

Leeds have been linked with both Cantwell and James.

Talking exclusively to MOT Leeds News Robinson said, “Cuisance is a top player and that was a real shame for Leeds. However, it’s better to find out now if there’s a problem.

“Moving on, either one of Dan James or Todd Cantwell would be good – they’re both great young players. However, I appreciate Leeds don’t have an endless pot of money and the spending has to stop somewhere.

“However, either one of them would be great signings, especially with their age.

“You’re not just buying a readymade Premier League player, you’re buying a readymade Premier League player for the next ten years.”

Leeds might have dodged a bullet with Cuisance but there were plenty of fans who were excited at the prospect of signing the Bayern Munich midfielder.

Leeds were already after a winger and could now be looking for a player who can combine midfielder/winger positions, or they could be in the market for two more deals.

Leeds have already spent £80m this summer.
