Pundit slams Tyler Roberts performance in Leeds United win over Burnley

We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United...

Paul Robinson wasn’t impressed by Tyler Roberts’ performance for Leeds United on Sunday despite the Whites winning 3-1 against Burnley at Elland Road.

Leeds returned to winning ways to move themselves eight points clear of 18th-placed Burnley but it could have been a far more comfortable afternoon if Roberts, 22, took his chances.

In the first half, the Wales international missed what was basically an open goal with stats by WhoScored saying he hit the target with just one of his six shots before he was substituted off in the 18th minute after getting injured.

Robinson doesn’t doubt Roberts’ approach to the game and seems happy with his ability to get into goalscoring positions while playing up front.

But, ultimately, the former goalkeeper hasn’t been happy with Roberts’ ability to stick the ball in the back of the net.

Speaking to MOT Leeds News, Robinson said: “I don’t think he has his best game yesterday.

You know what you’re doing to get with Roberts with his attitude, his dedication and his application. But there’s no end product and there hasn’t been enough end product for a long time now.

He does get himself in the positions but he snatches at chances and it wasn’t his best game in a Leeds shirt.”

Roberts has played in every Premier League match so far this season but his start against Burnley was just his seventh, with Bielsa using the Welshman as a substitute when he’s got a fully-fit attack.

In his 47 Premier League appearances, Roberts has scored just twice, which suggests that he’s not good enough to play upfront for the Whites as long as they’re in England’s top-flight.

In other Leeds United news, this senior ace is reportedly on his way out of Elland Road despite Bielsa’s wishes.
